Peak and trough levels

Topic: Pharmacology

The highest (peak) blood concentration of a drug and the lowest (trough) level just before the next dose. They are measured for narrow-range drugs such as aminoglycosides to check effectiveness and avoid toxicity; vancomycin is increasingly monitored by area under the curve (AUC) instead. Draw the trough just before the next dose and record the exact sampling time.
