Half-life
Topic: Pharmacology
The time it takes for the plasma concentration of a drug to fall by half. It determines how often a drug is given: with regular dosing, steady state is reached after about 4–5 half-lives, and a stopped drug is largely eliminated over a similar period. It can lengthen in kidney or liver failure.
