Levels of measurement

Topic: Management

The four levels at which data carry information: nominal (unordered categories, such as blood group), ordinal (ordered categories with unequal gaps, such as pressure injury stage), interval (equal gaps but no true zero, such as temperature in °C) and ratio (with a true zero, such as weight or heart rate). The level of measurement decides which summary statistics and which tests can be used.
