Null hypothesis
Topic: Management
The hypothesis (H0) that there is no difference between groups or no relationship between variables, for example that a new mouth care protocol does not change the pneumonia rate. The alternative hypothesis (H1) states that there is one. A statistical test assesses whether the data give enough evidence to reject H0. Failing to reject H0 does not prove that there is no effect; the study may have been too small to detect it.
- Also known as:
- H0, Alternative hypothesis
- In Turkish:
- Sıfır hipotezi
