Health belief model
Topic: Community health
A model that explains health behavior: people are more likely to act when they believe they are susceptible to a condition (perceived susceptibility) and that it is serious (perceived severity), when the benefits of acting outweigh the barriers, and when there is a cue to action; self-efficacy is also part of the model. Plan teaching around these perceptions, for example by lowering the barriers to a screening test.
