Health inequities
Topic: Community health
WHO's term for avoidable and unfair differences in health between groups, arising not from biology but from social conditions such as poverty, education, discrimination and access to care. The social gradient means that health worsens step by step as social position falls, at every level of society. Nurses can reduce inequities by advocating for clients, easing access to services and addressing the social determinants of health in care.
