General health insurance

Under Law 5510, insurance that first protects people's health and, when they face health risks, finances the costs; it covers people resident in Türkiye and is run by the SGK. It pays for preventive services, examinations, tests, treatment and medicines. In cases such as children under 18, emergencies, work accidents, occupational diseases and notifiable communicable diseases, the premium-payment conditions do not apply, and no co-payment is charged for family physician visits or personal preventive services.
