Gender

Topic: Community health

The socially constructed roles, norms, behaviors and relationships that a society assigns to women and men, as distinct from biological sex. WHO notes that gender norms and inequalities affect exposure to risk, health-seeking, access to care and the burden of caregiving; violence against women is among their most serious results. Consider how these roles shape the client's decisions and access to services.
