Central venous pressure
Topic: Medical-surgical
The blood pressure in the vena cava near the right atrium, measured through a central venous catheter; it reflects right-heart filling pressure. Read it with other findings to judge fluid status and right ventricular function: a low value suggests hypovolemia, and a high value suggests fluid overload, right-sided heart failure, pulmonary hypertension or cardiac tamponade; trends matter more than one reading.
- Also known as:

- In Turkish:
- Santral venöz basınç
