In Türkiye, health care providers are grouped into three levels under Law 5510 and the 2022 regulation on levels of care: primary (family health centers, community health centers, private practices and pharmacies), secondary (state hospitals that are not training and research hospitals, private hospitals and medical centers) and tertiary (training and research hospitals, university hospitals and private hospitals that meet the regulation’s standards, for diseases needing advanced tests and specialized treatment). The SGK sets the referral chain between the levels.
