Primary health care
Topic: Community health
WHO's whole-of-society approach to health, which meets people's needs as early as possible and as close as feasible to where they live, with services running from promotion and prevention through treatment and rehabilitation to palliative care, aiming at the highest possible level of health, fairly shared. Its three components are integrated primary care and public health services, multisectoral policies on the wider determinants of health, and empowered communities. It builds on the Alma-Ata (1978) and Astana (2018) declarations.
