Oliguria
Topic: Medical-surgical
Reduced urine output, in adults usually defined as less than 500 mL per day or, in hospitalized clients, less than 0.5 mL/kg/h. It can be an early sign of hypovolemia, shock, acute kidney injury or urinary obstruction. In a catheterized client first check the catheter for kinks or blockage, then monitor hourly output and report the decrease. Output below 50 mL per day is called anuria.
