Patient identification
Topic: Fundamentals
Confirming a client's identity with at least two independent identifiers (e.g., full name and date of birth or medical record number) before every medication, blood product, specimen collection and procedure. A room or bed number is never an identifier. Check the wristband and, when possible, ask the client to state their name; this prevents wrong-patient errors.
- Also known as:
- Two patient identifiers
- In Turkish:
- Hasta kimliğinin doğrulanması
