Readiness to learn

Topic: Community health

A person's physical, emotional and experiential readiness to learn. Pain, fatigue, nausea, high anxiety and denial block learning; motivation and past experience help it. A "teachable moment" is when the client asks a question or faces a change and is most open to learning. Relieve pain and wait for anxiety to ease before teaching anything complex.
